Provectus Recruitment are currently partnered with a leading manufacturing organisation in the UK, that design & manufacture large-scale rotating machinery, used for power generation.
This is a business that has manufactured rotating power-gen equipment for many years. They are currently going through a period of cultural change & modernisation, as well as driving technical innovation within the power-gen sector. A business that has a very established brand & some of the most reliable and efficient power-generation equipment there is to offer.
Due to ambitious growth plans, we are looking for a Systems & Engineering Project Manager, who will lead all systems and project engineering activity, providing leadership and support to a team of twelve engineers. A key duty of this role will be to ensure consistency and good practice are maintained across a diverse team working on multiple bids and projects.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibility of this role will be to provide leadership to a team of systems and project engineers that are developing customer-specific system design / architecture solutions and the Configuration Management of these solutions.
You will manage the creation of documentation (Verification Cross Reference Matrix) that links customer requirements, standards, and legislation to derived requirements, compliance statements, verification and validation activities and evidence.
- Ensure evidence is compiled that aids in fulfilling requirements to our customers.
- Monitor systems and project engineering progress against plans, addresses shortfalls, developing recovery plans where required.
- Organises formal reviews of projects throughout their life cycle.
- Conducts lessons learnt activities on project completion and identifies opportunities for learning and development.
- Ensure that Health and Safety practices are followed both in daily work and incorporated within product design.
- Delivers commitments on time, budget, quality, and specification.
- Development of the team and ensure personal development plans are in place,
- Conduct regular one to ones with staff members and delivers annual performance reviews.
- Champion systems engineering and project engineering practices within the business.
- Drives modularisation and standardisation of systems where possible.
- Make recommendations within the business on potential improvements that further develop the benefits of systems engineering and the wider business (tools, processes, practices, skills etc)
- Working closely with Project Managers, to proactively influence project planning and scheduling.
- Proactively manage resource allocations to bid and project teams and provide associated input to project controls and financial reviews.
The ideal candidate
This role would suit a system engineer or project engineer with a strong systems engineering background, who has at least 10 years active industry experience in one of these roles and is looking to develop their career by taking on a management role. Or an existing engineering manager with a systems engineering background interested in a new challenge.
- HNC or relevant experience in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical)
- Good technical knowledge of rotating equipment would be beneficial not essential
- An aptitude for sales/business development and understanding how to identify opportunity to improve.
